EFSA moves forward on NAMs for nanomaterials and nanoparticles

European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)’s methodology workstream highlights efforts to develop recommendations on using New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for the risk assessment of nanomaterials and nanoparticles in food and feed. This work aims to support implementation of NAMs in EFSA evaluations while reducing animal testing through more mechanistic, non-animal approaches in line with evolving EU policy objectives.
