NIA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, Blanca Suárez-Meriño, took part in the final panel discussion at the SSbD25 Conference in Zurich, sharing the industry’s perspective on Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD). The panel also featured representatives from the European CommissionCeficEMERGE, and IVL.

Discussions focused on how SSbD principles can be integrated into early-stage innovation — marking a shift in mindset from add-on practices to embedded approaches — and on the importance of developing a common language that unites industry, academia, and policymakers.

Now in its second year, the SSbD25 Conference, co-organised by Empa and IVL, serves as a key meeting point for researchers, industry representatives, and policymakers to exchange ideas and drive progress on SSbD-related topics.
