Shaping Global Nanomaterials Policy: NIA at the 2025 OECD WPMN Meeting

Summary

  • The NIA will represent industry at the annual OECD nanomaterials working party meeting in June, with a member update to follow.

On 17th-18th June, the NIA will participate in the annual OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN) meeting as vice-chair of the Business at OECD (BIAC) for the WPMN. The meeting will discuss activities carried out during the year, including the status of OECD guidelines and guidance development for nanomaterials, hazard and exposure models, work on the Safe and Sustainable Innovation Approach (SSIA), and developments from the Advanced Materials group. The NIA will update its members on these activities following the meeting.

NIA Contributes to Key Discussions at Nanomaterials Expert Group 20

On the 8th of November NIA Director of Regulatory Affairs, Dr Blanca Suarez Merino, attended the 20th meeting of the Nanomaterials Expert Group (NMEG) remotely, where technical issues relating to the implementation of REACH, CLP, and the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) for nanomaterials are discussed.
