Moving nanomaterial innovations from the lab to pilot-scale manufacturing and beyond is one of the sector’s most challenging and capital-intensive tasks. Maintaining key performance benefits of the nanomaterial during scale-up, while ensuring cost-effectiveness, often strains resources leading many companies to exhaust their capital.
The NIA strives to support its members in mitigating the risks of scale up by undertaking a range of targeted activities. These include providing technical workshops, organizing mentorship programs with industry veterans, and providing access to valuable case studies of successful scale-ups. The NIA also assists members in identifying funding opportunities, facilitates partnerships with research institutions and toll-manufacturers, and promotes licensing opportunities where appropriate. Furthermore, the organization is working to provide its members with tools for regulatory compliance, manufacturing risk assessment, supply chain optimization and other critical commercialization activities.
Combined, these efforts are to help ensure our members are far more likely to succeed at this crucial juncture and avoid the pitfalls of missing critical operational or funding milestones.
